Greetings from the Music team!
We are thrilled to announce that Kindergarten will be learning songs for a Texas themed concert on Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30 PM! This concert will take place on our glorious England Stage, and will feature classic Texas songs, songs about cowboys and cowgirls, and other native Texas critters! All material for this concert is being prepared as a part of your child’s music class, which ensures that all students have the opportunity to be a part of this performance!
We would love your help with decorations and props. If you are interested in volunteering to help make Texas/cowboy/cowgirl themed stage decorations, please contact us at [email protected], or [email protected].
Date/time/location of the concert: Tuesday, April 23, 6:30 PM, Elsa England Cafeteria
What to Wear: Cowboy/Cowgirl country-western wear (blue jeans, plaid shirt, or solid white shirt with red or blue bandanna loosely tied around the neck). Please wear closed-toe shoes for standing on the risers. Cowboy boots and hats are welcome!

Song Lyrics for Kindergarten Concert
Texas Star
I’m a Tex, I’m a Tex, I’m a Texas star,
And I come from the west where the cowboys are.
I can ride ‘em, I can rope ‘em, I can fill ‘em full of tar,
I’m a Tex, I’m a Tex, I’m a Texas star.
Hunt the Cows
Wake up you sleepy head and go and hunt the cattle,
Wake up you sleepy head and go and hunt the cows.
Wake up you sleepy head and go and hunt the cattle,
Wake up you sleepy head and go and hunt the cows.
The sun is hot,
The cows are lost,
I think I’ll rest,
‘Til they come home.
Little Ol’ Cowboy
I know a little ol’ cowboy, sittin’ by a little ol’ cracklin’ campfire.
I know a little ol’ cowboy, singin’ to the little ol’ moon. He’s singin’
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yo-de-ley-hee-hoo
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Singin’ to the little ‘ol moon. (YEE HAW!)
I know a little ol’ cowgirl, sittin’ by a little ol’ cracklin’ campfire.
I know a little ol’ cowgirl, singin’ to the little ol’ moon. She’s singin’
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yo-de-ley-hee-hoo
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Singin’ to the little ‘ol moon. (YEE HAW!)
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yo-de-ley-hee-hoo
Yip-ee-yi-yay. Yip-ee-yi-yo.
Singin’ to the little ‘ol moon. (YEE HAW!)
T-E-X-A-S
There is a state that is so great
And Texas is its name-o!
T-E-X-A-S, T-E-X-A-S, T-E-X-A-S
And Texas is its name-o!
(Sing to the tune of BINGO, and replace a letter with a clap each verse until the entire word is clapped)
Old Texas
I’m going to leave
Old Texas now
They’ve got no use
For the longhorn cow.
They’ve plowed and fenced
My cattle range
The people there
Are all so strange.
I’ve roped and tied
The dogies small
And listened for
The coyote’s call
I’m gonna turn my back
On the Texas sky
We’ll ride away
Old Paint and I
Say “Adios”
To the friends I know
I’ll hit the trail
For Mexico.
Deep in the Heart of Texas
The stars at night are big and bright
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The prairie sky is wide and high,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The sage in bloom is like perfume,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
Reminds me of the one I love
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The coyotes wail along the trail,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The rabbits rush around the brush,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The cowboys cry “Ki-yip-ee-ay!”
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The dogies bawl, and bawl and bawl,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
Deep in the heart of Texas!
I’m a Tex, I’m a Tex, I’m a Texas star,
And I come from the west where the cowboys are.
I can ride ‘em, I can rope ‘em, I can fill ‘em full of tar,
